Arranging a Private Investigation in Brussels From Abroad

Travelers with luggage, passport and boarding passes in an airport arrivals hall

A visit to Brussels may leave you with questions you cannot resolve from another country. Perhaps your partner is travelling to Belgium, or you need clarification about circumstances connected with a business visit. Before arranging an investigation, you need to know whether your request is appropriate, how the assignment will be organised and what you can expect to receive.

JOCO Investigations offers an initial consultation in English for clients abroad who need a private investigator in Brussels. Here is how we approach a request involving a short stay or an arrival at Brussels Airport.

Private investigator in Brussels

Start with the question you need answered

The first conversation establishes the purpose of your request. Explain the circumstances, the specific uncertainty and how you intend to use the findings. You do not need to prepare a complete dossier before contacting us.

For your first message, a brief description and the relevant dates are sufficient. Include your country or time zone and a suitable way to contact you. We will explain which additional information is needed and how to provide it securely.

Being someone’s partner does not give an unrestricted right to investigate their private life. We review the legitimate interest, scope and proportionality before accepting an assignment.

Can an investigation start at Brussels Airport?

An arrival at Brussels Airport in Zaventem can be a proposed starting point for an assignment. Whether this is feasible depends on the circumstances, the permitted scope of the work and the availability of investigators.

For example, a client abroad may request an assessment of an investigation connected with a partner’s arrival and short stay in Brussels. We would first discuss the specific facts to be clarified and whether an appropriate investigation can be organised. This is an illustrative situation, not a promise that every such request can be accepted.

Airport access conditions, delays and changes to travel plans can affect the practical arrangements. We discuss how changes, waiting time and any additional costs will be handled before work begins.

Agree the assignment and budget in advance

Before the investigation starts, the required written assignment document must be signed. We also set out the scope, estimated duration, costs and reporting arrangements so you can make an informed decision.

The required resources vary by assignment. We explain the proposed staffing and the charges that apply, including travel, administration and VAT where applicable. Any proposed extension is discussed with you.

Contact us as early as possible when your request concerns specific dates. Availability can only be confirmed after we have reviewed the request and agreed the arrangements.

How the investigation is handled locally

The investigator works within the agreed purpose and the applicable Belgian rules. Observation is assessed case by case and respects private places and reasonable expectations of privacy. A stay at a hotel does not authorise observation inside a private room.

We agree how and when you will receive appropriate updates. If you live in another time zone, this can be taken into account when planning communication. Material changes affecting the assignment are discussed with you.

An investigation can establish only what can actually be verified during the agreed work. Travel changes, access limitations and other circumstances may affect the findings.

What you receive afterwards

You receive a factual report describing the work performed, relevant observations and any limitations. Relevant photographs may be included where lawfully obtained and appropriate. We can arrange English reporting as part of the assignment.

The report distinguishes observed facts from information supplied by others and matters that could not be established. We do not guarantee that a suspicion will be confirmed.

If you intend to use the findings with a lawyer, mention this during the intake. Applicable disclosure and use requirements must be addressed, and acceptance by a court cannot be guaranteed.

Arrange a confidential consultation

Tell us briefly why you need an investigation in Brussels and which dates are relevant. We will discuss feasibility, availability and a cost estimate before you decide whether to proceed.
